Those who make use of flexible working practices at their place of employment tend to be creatures of habit as 35 per cent start work at the exact same time each day.

That's the conclusion of a new survey by remote meetings software firm TeamViewer, cited by hrmagazine.co.uk, which also found that 36 per cent tend to take a tea break at the same time every day.

The survey of 1,000 UK office workers found that when working from home, UK workers often choose to work in the garden, with 14 per cent opting to do so. Around 13 per cent work in bed, seven per cent work while cooking while five per cent work in the bathroom.

When it comes to maintaining a health work/life balance, 78 per cent of workers said they wanted a more flexible work schedule to boost job satisfaction in the absence of pay rises, which could interest a CEO looking to offer alternatives to pay rises for their workforce.

In addition, 68 per cent would like to be able to work from home while 50 per cent would prefer to travel less for work.

Holger Felgner, general manager at TeamViewer, commented on the survey to workplacelaw.net, saying: "The findings show that flexible working policies can satisfy employees seeking a work-life balance."
